Steven Edwards and
Karen Jackson were the 2000 Schneider Champions after beating Hugh Hemingway
and Matt Chivers 21-14 in the final. The previous day, Hugh and Matt beat Steven
and Karen 21-20 to go through as group winners. Ralf Schneider and Pam Norris
along with Tom Dingwall and Gareth Clarke were the unlucky semi-finalists.
This is the one tournament that sees all Shaw members playing their best badminton and this year was no exception. Hugh and Mark continue to pose problems for the handicappers by saving some of their badminton for this tournament and the performances by the youngsters Gareth & Steven were outstanding.
There was close competition for the "Bottoms Award" with three points separating the last three trophies. This year, Rebecca ad Rick will be keeping this trophy warm after holding off John & Cate and Jamie & Katie by a mere point.
A huge thank-you to Andy Fortmuller and Sue Chivers for all the organisation for the tournament.
Finally, many congratulations to Ralf and Danya who announced they would be getting married next June. Brilliant news to round off a superb tournament.

Last year, a new 'fun' trophy was unveiled ... THE BOTTOMS AWARD. This award is for the pair that tried the hardest, but gained the fewest points in the tournament. This year's lucky recipients were Rebecca Chivers & Rick Stone!
