Summer Club 2010
Shaw's Summer Club is up and running on Fridays from 7.30pm until 9.30pm at Trinity School. Cost is £3.50* per adult and £* for juniors/students.
We welcome all visitors whether you are a Shaw regular or a member of another club. Numbers permitting, this will run right through until the end of August.

* Please note (the boring bit!): All visitors must sign in the visitors book. If you ARE NOT an affiliated member of Badminton England, and you play more than five times as a visitor, we will need to affiliate you to Badminton England & Berkshire Badminton. The cost to cover this currently is £10 adults and £6 juniors which will be payable on your SIXTH visit. This is needed to ensure we comply with our insurance.
Schneider Championship 2010
Many congratulations to Mike Pembroke and Matt Haines who won this years championship in a hard fought final against Becks Chivers and Paul Olive.
Following a vote of club members, Paul Olive is this season's Player's Player and Emma Norris the club's Most Improved Player. Very well deserved!!
Shaw has had a pretty successful season ... it should be noted that our Mixed B team were the only team in the whole league to beat St Mary's Mixed A this season which cemented their postion in the elite league for next season.

We are delighted to announce that as of September 2009, Shaw will have a junior section to the club. This will be for those in Year 7 to 11. The Junior club will run from 6pm until 7.30pm on Fridays and Andy Norman (Bod) will be leading the coaching. Cost will be £30 per term.

Schneider Championship - Friday 1st May 2009
The end of year championship lived up to all expectations and two new names have been engraved on the trophy. Congratulations to Becks Chivers and Alex Wigmore and commisserations to Linda and Trevor who gave them a great run for the trophy in the final.

Shaw Win Blackford Cup Final
A close two legged affair saw Shaw produce some great badminton to pip Aldermaston to the much coveted Blackford Cup. The first leg was held at Aldermaston and after 4 and a half hours play, Shaw left with a +7 advantage. The second leg was played 3 days later and the Shaw team powered their way to the title, winning overall by 55 points. It was a great effort by the team and the game was played in great spirit. Here's to next year and another horrendous handicap!! :-)

Shaw Claim Level Doubles Double!
Shaw
members were on top form for the Newbury & District
Annual Level Doubles Championships. In the Ladies event Lucy Burton
and Sally
Norman came out on top with a stunning set of victories.
After a sluggish start they found their form and won the tournament
in style beating fellow Shaw members Latha Taylor and Karen Harrison.
In the Men's competition the Walker brothers re-united to
roll back the years and produce flawless badminton as they re-discovered
their
form and touch on the court. Their triumph in the final over Gareth
Jones and Steve Pennington completed a hat-trick of wins for Kevin
and Tony in the championships, and topped off a very good tournament
for Shaw, who once again had a high turn out. Well done everyone!
Change to Friday Start Times
With effect from 4th January 2008, Friday
club and match nights will start at 7.30pm.
Rounders Match & BBQ
The gauntlet has been thrown down and we will be playing St Mary's BC at Rounders on Sunday 15th July 2007 at 1pm. Venue: Chapel Row Green, next to The Blade Bone Pub.
All the family are welcome, and please do not worry if you have never played before or haven't played for a long time.
As Bod, Lu and Mike have decided that as the weather will be so good, there will be BBQ afterwards. BBQ's and coals will be provided so you just need to bring your food and drinks. There is plenty of parking available and a pub opposite the green for post match/bbq beverages.
