Each year, the Berkshire County Badminton Association seek nominations from clubs and players for people who in the opinion of the Award Committee, have made a meritorious contribution to the coaching, playing, sportsmanship, administration or promotion of badminton in Berkshire. For the junior award, the player should have shown the best combination of results; improvement in personal playing standards; co-operative attitude; or sportsmanship during the season.
In 1997, West Berkshire ... and indeed three players from Shaw BC were recognised by their peers and awarded with these trophies.

Bridget Bowsher & Sue Chivers were recognised for the dedication to junior and youth badminton development in the area with both Newbury Juniors and Newbury Youth clubs ... whereas Andy Norman for his sportsmanship and achievement in the games as a junior.
